Analyst, Office of the CEO
Financial Technology
San Francisco, CA
Hybrid
A well-funded, scaling fintech with a proven product, a growing enterprise customer base, and serious momentum. The hard questions about whether this works have been answered. The focus now is on how far and how fast.
The leadership team is experienced, the engineering organisation is mature, and the business is operating at a scale where the quality of information reaching the top of the organisation has a direct and measurable impact on outcomes. That is the problem this role exists to solve.
The Role
The CEO's office runs as a small, high-functioning unit — a Chief of Staff, an Executive Assistant, and now an Analyst. Each role is distinct. The Chief of Staff drives strategy and cross-functional execution. The EA manages access, logistics, and the operating rhythm. The Analyst owns the information layer.
Your job is to make sure that everything flowing into the CEO's office — from market signals and competitor moves to internal performance data and board-level reporting — arrives processed, structured, and decision-ready. The CEO should never have to ask the same question twice. You anticipate it, answer it, and surface what they didn't know to ask.
This is not a generalist role dressed up with an interesting title. It is a specific, high-leverage function for someone who is genuinely exceptional at taking complexity and turning it into clarity.
What You'll Own
- Synthesising incoming information — internal data, market intelligence, investor materials, board reporting — into concise, accurate, actionable outputs
- Building and maintaining the reporting infrastructure that gives the CEO a real-time picture of business performance across revenue, product, operations, and finance
- Preparing briefing documents, decision memos, and executive summaries that are tight, well-sourced, and ready to act on
- Tracking strategic initiatives across the business and flagging where things are off-track before they become problems
- Conducting deep-dive analysis on competitive dynamics, market trends, and strategic questions as they arise
- Supporting the Chief of Staff on high-priority projects where analytical horsepower is needed
Who We're Looking For
You have come out of a rigorous analytical environment — investment banking, management consulting, equity research, or a similarly demanding role — and you are looking to get closer to a fast-moving business where your work has direct and visible impact.
You are not looking to manage people or own a function yet. You want to be the best analyst in the room, trusted with the most important questions, and given real access to how a company operates at the top.
The right candidate will be exceptionally strong with data and structured thinking; a clear, precise writer who produces outputs that don't need editing; and someone who is genuinely comfortable working in ambiguity without losing rigour. You notice things others miss. You don't summarise — you synthesise.
A background in or strong understanding of financial services or fintech is a genuine advantage. The context matters here and there is no time to build it from scratch.
Why This One
Access is the word. You will sit inside the CEO's office of a scaled, well-capitalised business at an inflection point — working on questions that actually matter, alongside a team operating at a level most analysts don't encounter until much later in their careers, if at all.
The compensation is competitive, equity is on the table, and the role is explicitly designed as a launchpad into a senior operating, strategy, or investment function over time.
This search is being managed exclusively by Blackbook Associates. The company's identity will be shared with shortlisted candidates only. To apply, submit your CV and a brief covering note.
