Analyst, Office of the CEO (VP)
Investment Management
New York, US
In Office
Blackbook Associates is retained on an Analyst search within the Office of the CEO at a large alternative asset manager headquartered in New York. This is a high-impact, decision-support role designed to strengthen the analytical engine around the CEO.
This is not a CEO-facing administrative or scheduling role. The Analyst will sit firmly within the firm's decision-making infrastructure, partnering with the Chief of Staff and senior leadership to synthesize upstream information, interrogate board and investment committee materials, and translate complexity into clear, prioritized inputs for the CEO.
The Role
The Analyst will operate as a core member of the CEO's office, owning the analytical workflow that shapes how information reaches the principal. Core responsibilities include:
- Synthesizing inbound information from across the firm — investment teams, finance, IR, operations, and external counterparties — into clear, decision-ready outputs
- Reviewing, distilling, and pressure-testing board packs, investment committee materials, and senior leadership submissions ahead of the CEO's engagement
- Producing briefing notes, analytical summaries, and structured frameworks to support strategic decisions
- Prioritization and triage of information flow into the CEO's office, ensuring focus on what materially matters
- Independent analysis on cross-firm initiatives spanning strategy, capital formation, product, and portfolio
- Tracking decisions, commitments, and follow-throughs across the leadership team
- Acting as a trusted internal analytical resource to the Chief of Staff and the wider Office of the CEO
The Candidate
We are seeking a high-caliber analyst with a strong grounding in alternative investments and the maturity to operate at the center of a senior decision-making environment.
Essential:
- Direct exposure to alternative investments, whether through private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets, or infrastructure
- Deep industry knowledge of the alternative asset management landscape, including fund structures, fee economics, and the broader competitive set
- Demonstrable analytical rigor, with the ability to interrogate complex investment and financial materials at speed
- Exceptional written communication, with proven ability to produce executive-grade briefings and analysis
- Sound judgment, discretion, and comfort handling sensitive firm-level information
- Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple workstreams in parallel
Preferred:
- CFA charterholder or active candidate
- Prior experience within an Office of the CEO, Chief of Staff team, strategy function, or investment role at a leading alternative asset manager
- Background in investment banking, management consulting, or buy-side analysis with subsequent alternatives exposure
